This manga has a former yakuza killer turned house husband in all sorts of seeming sketchy situations that turn out to be benign。 He has hung up his life of crime as the Immortal Dragon to become the domestic man of the house diligently cleaning, cooking, and shopping。 Then, the comedy ensues。

I really like this first volume, however, I fear that the humor in the book will become stale for me quickly over the next few volumes。 Still with the premise I want to continue and see how the rest play out。 I at-least want to get to the explanation of how he and his wife met and how he become a househusband。

I have been sitting on these for a while, but what a joy to read。The jokes aren't the most surprising, but they are quite satisfying。Once you read the first few chapters, you will be able to see where most things are going, but the destination isn't any less enjoyable for it。 I have been sitting on these for a while, but what a joy to read。The jokes aren't the most surprising, but they are quite satisfying。Once you read the first few chapters, you will be able to see where most things are going, but the destination isn't any less enjoyable for it。 。。。more

The Way of the Househusband follows an ex-Yakuza boss who has decided to be a stay at home husband and support his career wife。 From cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and hanging out with the neighborhood elderly, he does it all。 The gag is he applies the serious Yakuza mindset to all of these domestic tasks。 I laughed out loud multiple times and immediately opened up the second volume。 This series isn't for everyone。 If you're looking for an in-depth storyline and character growth, I recomme The Way of the Househusband follows an ex-Yakuza boss who has decided to be a stay at home husband and support his career wife。 From cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and hanging out with the neighborhood elderly, he does it all。 The gag is he applies the serious Yakuza mindset to all of these domestic tasks。 I laughed out loud multiple times and immediately opened up the second volume。 This series isn't for everyone。 If you're looking for an in-depth storyline and character growth, I recommend not picking this up。 But if you're looking for a laugh and a dose of silliness after a long day, then you'll want to cozy up with this series。 。。。more

everything about this manga is absurd: the humor, the plot, the characters, the art style, etc。 but the absurdity is what made me love it so much。 The first volume of The Way of the Househusband follows Tatsu, a former member of the Yakuza。 He leaves his life in the Yakuza behind to become a full time “house-husband” and is fully devoted to his wife Miku。 The premise is absurd but I think that’s why I enjoyed this so much。 Watching Tatsu bumble around in life genuinely made me laugh out loud on everything about this manga is absurd: the humor, the plot, the characters, the art style, etc。 but the absurdity is what made me love it so much。 The first volume of The Way of the Househusband follows Tatsu, a former member of the Yakuza。 He leaves his life in the Yakuza behind to become a full time “house-husband” and is fully devoted to his wife Miku。 The premise is absurd but I think that’s why I enjoyed this so much。 Watching Tatsu bumble around in life genuinely made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions。 The Way of the Househusband is hilarious, heartwarming, adorable, and just a tad bit dark at times (but not too dark)。 I have a feeling that this manga will end up being one of my go to comfort reads。 It’s so silly and dumb yet also really interesting at the same time。I’m giving this volume a 4。5/5 stars because of how much fun I had while reading this。 。。。more

The most legendary Yakuza。。。 has become a househusband。 It's a simple concept。 Each chapter is the "Immortal Dragon" looking scary and applying his intensity and seriousness to his role as a stay at home husband。 He cooks food。 He cleans the apartment。 He goes shopping。 But these ordinary tasks become extraordinary when he's treating everything like a gang war, and he is constantly followed by or keeps running into other Yakuza who have unfinished business with him。It's easy for the comedy in a The most legendary Yakuza。。。 has become a househusband。 It's a simple concept。 Each chapter is the "Immortal Dragon" looking scary and applying his intensity and seriousness to his role as a stay at home husband。 He cooks food。 He cleans the apartment。 He goes shopping。 But these ordinary tasks become extraordinary when he's treating everything like a gang war, and he is constantly followed by or keeps running into other Yakuza who have unfinished business with him。It's easy for the comedy in a gag manga to grow old。 The juxtaposition of 'gang member' and 'loving husband' is funny but it only goes so far。 Kousuke Oono luckily keeps the chapters short and constantly cycles through different jokes instead of committing too much time playing out each story。 There's a lot of physical humour with how the characters react to each other that takes the weight off of the specific househusband gag itself。 And, of course, there's a chapter where he and his wife go shopping and their relationship is so cute that I'm invested in it。 It's great to see a stereotypical macho manly man being a househusband and still treated respectfully, with the gag being the tone switch between Yakuza/househusband and not the fact that he's a househusband itself。I think I got to this series too late。 It's been in release for the past three years and by now it's garnered a massive fanbase and lots of acclaim。 Some of the gags I've seen posted elsewhere on the internet。 Some of the fans praise it so much I came into this volume expecting it to be much better than it was。 It's good! It's solid。 Nice mix of humour and wholesome moments, and quick-paced enough to keep you entertained each chapter。 But I'm waiting for the gag to grow old or to evolve in such a way that I can connect with it on a deeper level then 'heh that's kind of funny'。 。。。more

Sometimes it's hard to leave your reputation behind。 The Immortal Dragon, has decided to change his life completely。 Since he's now married, he's decided to become a househusband, but other gangsters find this hard to believe。 This cozy Yakuza Manga is a collection of humorous stories about a man obsessed with cooking, cleaning, and finding a good deal。 The illustrations are good, and that apron! An okay volume。 The concept was kinda unique but i guess the execution didn’t do enough to make me want to continue so I probably won’t be picking up the next volume。 However I feel like this is something I could follow easier as an anime so I may give the anime on Netflix a shot。 Overall not a bad read im just not interested enough to continue reading。

A yakuza gives up his former career to become a househusband。 But this doesn't mean he changes his style or behaviour。 Trigger warnings for this are really hard because it plays so much with language。 Nothing really happens, but a number of topic - like mutilation as in cutting of a finger if you've made a mess - are alluded to。 A yakuza gives up his former career to become a househusband。 But this doesn't mean he changes his style or behaviour。 Trigger warnings for this are really hard because it plays so much with language。 Nothing really happens, but a number of topic - like mutilation as in cutting of a finger if you've made a mess - are alluded to。 。。。more

This read like a series of short vignettes rather than something with a story line。 The vignettes put the protagonist, a former Yakuza legend, in the role of a house husband。 The character looks out of place in these domestic settings, which may make a few folks smile or laugh; for me, I get more humor out of a characters I understand a little more through plot。

I love this one。 I would say that Tatsu's character does break away from the toxic masculine character that you'd expect him to be considering his looks and his past occupations。 It's a refreshing read and Tatsu is definitely a great househusband! For me this book was an okay🤷🏽‍♀️ read。 The facial expressions the main character was making sometimes was creepy but I guess that's just the humor of the story。 He (main character) made the smallest tasks like grocery shopping something serious like he's in a gang。 I found that a lil silly😊 & meh😑。 For me this book was an okay🤷🏽‍♀️ read。 The facial expressions the main character was making sometimes was creepy but I guess that's just the humor of the story。 He (main character) made the smallest tasks like grocery shopping something serious like he's in a gang。 I found that a lil silly😊 & meh😑。 。。。more

A cuter, less funny, less edgy GTO。 Basically: this ace Yakuza guy destroyed the local gangs and turned into a stay-at-home husband, seemingly overnight。How? Why?
